Julia Pantoga Soriano, a Quaker minister, created Sharp Turn Institute to address an unmet need she felt pressing on her when she could no longer work full-time due to her own serious medical condition. She couldn’t easily find accessible ways to care for emotional health, so she developed her own protocols.
After she got through the first year of her own serious medical condition, she wrote the book, A Sharp Turn: A Step-by-Step Guide to Negotiating the First Year of a Serious Medical Condition. Once she'd organized her thoughts in this combination workbook, memoir, and inspirational guide, she looked for ways to most effectively distribute the information it contains. She is currently distributing the content through the Living Well with a Serious Medical Condition™ class series.
